Jim Schwartz has been writing short stories most of his life. "I fell in love with the form at any early age," he says. "I especially liked stories with surprise endings. The best stories seem to come to together in the last sentence." The first piece he remembers writing was about his having an affair with his mother, which he wrote in the tenth grade. After reading it, his girlfriend at the time never talked to him again. These stories run the gamut from touching to poignant to funny to disturbed to just plain bonkers. Schwartz has been encouraged by many fellow writers, and for a very long time, to publish a collection of his stories.
