Love Me, Marietta by Jennifer Wilde

Love Me, Marietta is the sequel to Love's Tender Fury. Description from the book's back cover: Her Beauty Was Power ... Men fought to touch her, hold her, staked claim to her body and her heart. Derek Hawke, once her master, now openly vowed his love, promising her a place as mistress of his English estate. Red Nick, the cruel pirate, showered her with jewels and challenged her hauteur with his passion. Jeremy Bond, renegade mercenary who could charm any woman to his bed, risked his life to rescue her from her island prison. Love Me, Marietta ... men beseeched her, but Marietta Danver's spirit matched her beauty. She would keep her love for just one man!

A Priceless Anamoly!

Love Me, Marietta is truly an anamoly; a sequel that is every bit as wonderful, if not better, than its predecessor. I loved this book; I have always had a bit of a problem with the way Love's Tender Fury ended, but this book completely makes up for that. I fell in love with playful, sexy and darling Jeremy Bond. He's compassionate, determined, strong and gentle with Marietta. He reminds me a lot of Jeff from Love's Tender Fury. I know that there is a third book, but I'm not sure I want to read it if Marietta doesn't end up with Jeremy because he is her absolute soul mate! This book was divided up into 3 parts; What happens when Marietta's with Derek and meets Jeremy, what happens when she's with Red Nick and what happens after she escapes from Red Nick with Jeremy and a few friends in tow. I loved the characters and the side story romances between Marietta's and Jeremy's friends. There aren't any stupid betrayals, jealousy or back-stabbings, just good old friendships and camaraderie. Marietta just gets better and better. She was strong in the first book and she is still just as determined and clever as ever in this one. I love how gutsy she is and how sexy and persistent and sassy. She's all woman and even though people probably look at this book and snigger or make cracks about bodice-rippers, she's really a very tough gal; tougher than a lot of romances which claim their heroines are "independent" when the women are really door mats. This book will make you cry, laugh, cheer and gasp. If you like books with constant action, loveable characters and a plot that keeps you so involved you barely have time to think, this is definitely the book for you. It has the same feel that The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Count of Monte Cristo have; lots of people who are intertwined in each others' lives and who always feel every emotion deeply. I can't recommend this book enough - it's definitely an all-time favorite of mine.

Perhaps she was too beautiful!

Perhaps the brawling colonies would have been safer for a plainer girl, one more demure and less accomplished in language and manner. But Charity Woodstock was gloriously beautiful with pale golden hair and topaz eyes and she was headed for trouble. She was accused of witchcraft by the man who had attacked her. She was whisked from the stake by a highwayman in whose arms she found joy but no sanctuary. Fate flung her from the manor of a Dutch patroon to the simple hut of a Quaker, from a pirate ship to plantation. Beauty might have been her downfall, but Charity Woodstock had a reckless passion to live and a fine determination to give herself only for love. She would challenge this new world and win. from the back cover of the book

A Jolly Good Read

This is the sequel to love's tender fury. And I must say it's the most entertaining book I've read in years. The story of Marietta Danver who is engaged to Derek Hawk, but is kidnapped and becomes the unwilling mistress of a pirate king.
