Punk rocker Mona Kerry fails an audition with her band, the Terrible Threes, and even bombs a bartending gig overseen by the local punk rock nemesis, Lurch Menace. But after she and friends, Lilah and Ayeesha start a new band together, she gets a temp job as a paper pusher at United Properties, Inc., supervised by the handsome and charming Rick Bruford, whose dad owns the corporation.
When she finds out he's a musician, the two join forces to launch the Temps.
Hoping they have a chance at winning in the Battle of the Bands, organized by Lurch, the four musicians polish their style.
