Love Behind Enemy Lines

It was 1939 when my family learned of the take over of Poland by Hitler's armies. We knew France would be next to suffer at the hands of Nazi Germany, so my father moved us quickly to my grandfather's farmhouse. It was located in a remote area which would be inaccessible during the winter months. The trip was long and the last leg of the journey had to be walked, but soon we were safe. Shortly after we arrived, my parents informed us that they would be leaving us in our grandfather's care as they had decided to join the French Resistance. It was our grandfather who then prepared us for what was ahead. After two years of peace at the farmhouse, the situation changed. A German patrol had discovered our sanctuary and invaded our area. We were forced to flee, but to our great surprise a small group of American soldiers came to support us. This is my story of survival and the sacrifices made in the honor of great and enduring love.
