Samantha's grandmother had lived in Alberta. As a child, her grandmother couldn't be a big part of her life. Sam remembered her grandmother's words of regret written in a birthday card she had sent to her on her twelfth birthday. Because of the distance between them, her grandmother had missed watching her grow and sharing in her dreams. At ten years of age, Sam had visited her grandmother only the once in Alberta.
