When parenthood doesn't seem to be God's will for the couple, Lou Lou makes a Christmas wish to receive the five orphaned children being sent to the Forrest Ranch by the matriarch's sister from New York City.

But when the children arrive, Albert's dream is crushed when they are four girls and one sickly infant boy. Can Lou Lou convince her husband that girls make good ranch helpers, especially since the oldest girl is terrified of barnyard animals and refuses to learn to ride a horse?
