Lotus Land

By William Wong Foey

William Wong Foey, author of the bestselling debut novel Winter Melon, presents his second book, Lotus Land, A Collection of Short Stories. Tales of desire, despair, courage, and redemption fill the pages of this unique collection. Inspired by actual events, The Nam Demon tells the story of an American soldier in Vietnam who pursues a man-eating tiger, giving him reflection on the value of his own life and the life of the tiger he obsesses to kill. Murder in Lotus Land tells of an American woman married to a Chinese man, who solves the cold-case death of her husband's grandfather's first wife-and finishes with a startling ending.

Round Eyes tells of a woman's vain quest for physical perfection in a world of ever-changing standards of beauty. These stories, along with Ella Sue's Bird's Nest Soup, The Laughing Mourner, The Three Gorges, and The Last Chinaman, will fascinate readers and give insight into man's folly.
