This 1994 book uses Windows 3.1 but its examples for Lotus 1-2-3 are still educational. The 'Preface' explains its features. You need the Student Disk and its files to complete the step-by-step lessons, but you can create your own data for these lessons. This 168-page book is a handy reference guide for occasional users. There is a 'Glossary' and an 'Index'. Unit 1 explains how to work in Windows 3.1 (later versions are similar in style). Unit 2 tells how to start Lotus 1-2-3 and explains the functions of its bars, icons, and menus. Navigating the worksheet is explained. Unit 3 explains how to build a worksheet with labels, values, cell entries, formulas, and functions. Unit 4 tells how to revise a worksheet or reformat it. Unit 5 teaches how to enhance a worksheet by using various options to format the contents of cells. Unit 6 tells how to create a chart to display numbers in a visual format. You can use various charts: bars, lines, areas, or pies. Unit 7 explains working with a database in Lotus 1-2-3. The database table can contain up to 8,191 records with 256 fields; it is basically a spreadsheet. You can sort or search it. Unit 8 teaches how to use multiple worksheets and files so they will display in the same window. Unit 9 tells how to use macros (a recorded series of key-strokes) to automate frequently used tasks.
