Lost Treasure of Kurnah

Emile Caret is the great grandson of Jebadiah Swalley companion of Austin Langley, archaeologist. In 1860 they came out of Mesopotamia with 3500 BC antiquities floating down the Tigris River on several rafts tied together. When they finally reached Kurnah, a village on the banks of the Tigris, a band of Arabs located up on a hill began shooting at the natives on the rafts. Suddenly a huge bolder rolled off the hill and hit the water like a cannon blast. The rafts began to sink like dominoes. Langley handed off a leather pouch to Jebadiah in which are recorded all the artifacts taken from the dig and those left. Jebadiah reluctantly leaped off the raft into the muddy water with the pouch gripped in his teeth. Emile's grandfather has instilled the story of the Kurnah Disaster into his young mind during hours of dreamy discussions in a tree house they built. He has exasperated the patience of his father with his paranoid dream of locating the treasure. Undaunted by his father's resistance, Emile stalks Dr. Henry Harrington a famous archaeologist who has discovered a gold medallion given to the Smithsonian. He follows them to a cafe in Kurnah and is sitting on a stool at the bar looking at Harrington, Eliza his wife, and a young female graduate student Harrington has brought along for the experience. Henry notices the clean-cut young lad gawking at the graduate student. He casually lays his napkin on the table, winks at Eliza, then strolls to the bar. He sits beside the young lad, and peers into his expectant eyes, then says, "Her name is Glance, who are you? When Emile relates his story, Harrington immediately expects a hoax. But Emile convinces him when he presents a tattered leather pouch. Harrington's probing questions unveil that Emile is also the son of the French Ambassador who has given him authorization to investigate the Kurnah Disaster. Harrington takes Emile with the survey group. Emile is thrust into the center of his lifelong dream. But no one knows that a ruthless terrorist covets the treasure, no matter what it costs; he shall have it or no one will. The search for the treasure leads to murder, intrigue, romance, and jealously.
