From a New York Times -bestselling author: An island off the Georgia coast holds the memory of a broken heart and the secrets of a woman's past. It's been years since Lacey Ames last saw Hampton Island, where she grew up amid the sandy marshes with her childhood sweetheart, Giles Severn, and her cousin Elise--and where Elise had stolen the man Lacey loved. Lacey never forgot the hurt and betrayal she once suffered at Giles's grand family home of Sea Oaks, but a curious and compelling summons from Elise prompts her return. Once Lacey arrives, she realizes how little has changed. Giles is still the handsome charmer she fell in love with, and Elise is still the wily seductress whose succession of lovers has risked a family scandal. But when a series of anonymous harmless pranks turns threatening, Lacey must finally confront the past--and a decade-old secret from one haunting summer at Sea Oaks.
Lost Island is yet another brilliant book by Phyllis A. Whitney. It does drag on a little at the beginning of the book, as the other books I've read by her do as well, but it is to establish a background for the characters throughout the book-something I think is necessary. Upon getting through the background of the characters, I was unable to put the book down. Phyllis A. Whitney is gifted in keeping her books suspenseful to the very end-and there are often quite a few twists along the way. I highly suggest this book. Other books I have read by her are Poinciana and Woman Without A Past-also very good books.
Kept me hanging....

I read Lost Island on the way back from a vacation, and I was unable to put it down. The book dragged a little bit at the beginning, but I was so into it so I didn't mind. It was a great suspense novel; I never guessed who it was who murdered Elise. One of my favorite Whitney books! :)
Great
