This is a collection of my "communications" to the reader, ones not intended as some kind of elaborate invitation to my pity party, and NOT whinges over my painful lot, but on the contrary, ones meant to give my madness meaning, interspersed with samples of my "blown drawings," which are not meant as relevant illustrations but more to provide a pause, a moment to allow the reader to reset their focus before encountering the next communique. I do not want or need your pity, for I am content, nay happy, with my manic-depression. It has blessed me with a mania for words, soaring flights of ideas, let me fall in love frequently, and at no extra fee kept my mind ever on the lookout for and pursuit of interesting projects. I am sensitive beyond all reason; at 85 I can state unequivocally that I have NEVER been bored, but all that aside, the absolutely most gratifying aspect of being mad is the unflagging capacity to conjure laughter and merriment in others.
