After months of hard work and eighteen hour days, Berrick is finally able to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor, happy to see the restaurant he dreamed up made into reality in the heart of Los Angeles. But instead of kicking back with friends in the cocktail lounge, Berrick is eager to get started with another project: making a movie with a childhood friend who has already made it in Hollywood. Things are complicated considerably when Berrick runs across an old friend from growing up, Karen. Seeing her again brings out all sorts of old feelings in Berrick, who was in love with Karen for many years. The wild tale that unfolds leaves Berrick contemplating the nature of love and friendship, sex and alcohol, movies, music, food, and a culture that revolves around them. Life is for the living, and with only one shot at it, Berrick's main concern is always making the absolute most of it.
