Sixteen-year-old JoAnne Mathis knows what she wants, a puppy of her own. But not just any puppy, a Belgian Malinois pup that she can train for search and rescue and let sleep on the foot of her bed. Too bad Mom says no. While Mom's away for a water rescue workshop, Jo's in charge of the kennel, and at least she can pretend.
When the sheriff calls needing a tracking dog, Jo grabs a leash and rushes into action. Someone's lost, and there's no time to waste.
Now, pretend becomes a reality, and she must rely on her untested skills while trusting her canine partner.
