The Delaney clan becomes entangled with a British Police Commissioner who is intent on wiping them out. After burying her husband and two sons, a bounty is placed on the heads of Molly Delaney's remaining sons, and she is forced to evacuate her beloved homeland.

Arriving in the new world, the Delaneys find the deck is again stacked against them. America presents new hardships, and the Irish are once again exploited by those trying to become rich off the backs of the poor. The hurt they suffer is profound, but the values of these people brought with them-and others like them-made America a great nation.
