Illuminati Founded May 1st, 1776 in Bavaria by Adam Weishaupt, a Jesuit alumni, The Illuminati had a clear purpose: 1. Abolition of the monarchy and/or any form of government. 2. Abolition of private property, and inheritance rights 3. Abolition of nationalism and patriotism 4. Abolition of the family and the institution of marriage, substituting it with a communal system for child education 5. Abolition of all religions. To attain their goals they made alliances with the masons and the Jesuits. However they were abolished in 1784 by Bavarian authorities, and Weishaupt went into exile. In 1785, after the order was dissolved in Europe, A lodge is founded in New York City that claims to be the inheritors of the Bavarian Illuminati principles. Its influence in the political and economical world will be enormous and will be immortalized in such symbols as the US dollar bill. Working secretly and in the shadows, the Illuminati will infiltrate the world of publicity, press, banking, and government--trying relentlessly to establish a New World Order. The book is a dry read, purely academic and full of references. I was interested simply because they are implicated in Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, and I wanted to learn more about them before I saw the movie.
