Salvo de Benedittis will never be able to forget the day when, while on vacation at the beach house, some men appeared and took his father whom he never saw again. Almost seven years later, about to turn twelve, when he has managed to have a happy life with his uncles and his cousin in another city and make a name for himself at school with his intelligence and his passion for reading, his father shows up to take him away to spend a few days with him. He no longer feels anything for his father, who is practically a stranger, except the resentment for the suffering that his absence caused his mother and that ended her life. Forced to spend a few days with him against his will, Salvo will try to put together the pieces of the puzzle that his father's life has become and, furthermore, of the journey they undertake together to southern Italy, which also becomes a journey of mutual discovery.
