Lord, Teach Us to Pray

By: Griffith, Robert

The Lord's Prayer is not a script to memorize - it's a way of life to embrace - a pattern built on the foundation Jesus laid - it is not just about making requests - it's about being formed.Prayer is not a religious hoop we jump through to gain spiritual credit. Nor is it a vending machine into which we insert the right spiritual coins. Prayer is a relational conversation with God. At its core, prayer is not primarily about getting something from God, it's about connecting with God personally.Prayer is also the furnace in which our character is shaped. In prayer, we are moulded into the likeness of Christ. In prayer, our will is being aligned with God's will. In prayer, our desires are sifted, purified, and refined. When Jesus teaches us to pray, He is not only teaching us what to say - He is teaching us who to become. The prayer Jesus gives us is not magic. It is not mechanical. It is not a formula. It is an invitation - to know God, to be changed by Him, and to participate in His kingdom on earth.
