Both Lord And Christ

Newcombe and Kennedy propose a worldview that is out of step with the current scenario. Various spheres of life (ethical, government, church, education etc) are engaged with. Pseudo-Christianity is exposed in the systems that once were put in place by Calvinists. Yet, why was the 'Yahweh Elohim' removed from the KJV in 1611, and, since then, replaced with LORD God, from Genesis 2:4? God's Name, the Tetragrammaton, has further suffered attrition, in that it appears faithfully, but in the Catholic New Jerusalem Bible! In Romans 9:13 again Jesus is associated with LORD, not Adonai, Kyrios, Lord, - but YHWH ! This essential mistake certainly contributes to us not having a proper understanding of our Lord. These two men have researched the data and derived implications from verified and substantiated worldly sources of repute. So the social endemic that plagues modern America will continue. Is there hope for this economic and military giant? These essays would appear to believe so. But if the fabric of modern society inevitably and unrelentlessly continues its downward spiral, the predictions of 'the last days' should strike a chord of concern amongst evangelicals. 'Keep in mind what our Declaration of Independence says: God has created us equally, and our Creator has endowed us with inalienable rights. Without a Creator, there are no inalienable rights. We would have only those rights that are bestowed by the State.' pg 61 'Justice means fairness, impartiality. Justice is blind. It treats all men and women equally (Proverbs 18:5).' pg 150 'All this leads to unbelief. God the provider is pushed aside, while the state becomes the provider for a disbelieving populace.' pg 156 A good and thorough book on Wereltaanschauung, objectifying thru the lens of Scripture the ethical norms society falls way short of.

Review of "Lord of All" by D James Kennedy

An excellent book that discusses a wide range of topics important to the Christian. The book helps clarify the Christian's stance in the world/society, distinguishing the world view vs the Christian view. It is well-written and easy to read and understand.

Lord of All Book Review

The book is well written and, even better, well organized. The text is divided into six different sections of four chapters, each detailing a different "sphere" in our lives that Christ needs to reign over. As the back cover states, "In Lord of All, D. James Kennedy and Jerry Newcombe define this Christian world-and-life view by considering the six main spheres of influence that Christians should be working to strengthen, from the global and national levels down to the church and family." The six spheres the book refers to are the world, humanity, nation, education, church and family. In each section the authors compare the commonly held humanist, or secular, view to the Biblical perspective. It carefully details the consequences of each conviction and the reasoning that led to the world's beliefs. The authors are careful to back up their arguments using experts from the respective fields and Scripture. What's more, they also successfully explain how each of these spheres are intricately connected and how it is impossible to be a well-rounded Christian without letting the Lord reign in each of these areas. Hence, this book not only provides the reader with the information needed to engage in our country's fiercely contested cultural wars (i.e. abortion, homosexuality, etc.), it also informs the reader why it is so vitally essential to our Christian walk that we do so. This is a message that the church needs to hear more. Unfortunately, there is a growing movement within the church that believes Christians should ignore society and just stick to their own affairs. This book more than adequately explains why Christians are commanded to do otherwise. What a wonderful book! Unfortunately we find too many Christians arguing on behalf of their beliefs quite blindly these days. When debating a friend or coworker on an issue, Christians will all too often resort to, "Well, the Bible says..." It is well and good that they understand their beliefs stem from Scripture but we cannot blame non-Christians for failing to succumb to those kinds of arguments. Furthermore, when these same non-Christians are presented with sound reasoning in conjunction with the Bible it only makes Christianity that much more attractive to the individual. This book will help equip believers to intelligently address the many social issues of today and inform them why it is imperative that they do so.
