little above average Medieval Romance....

Review-Unlike what is on the back cover-the story is a Medieval romance involving the "heroine in disguise as a page boy". Aldyth has always loved Ranulf from childhood-but when he's sent away to squire, she finally sees him years later, and seems a totally different man-a popinjay and a womanizer. Brokenhearted, Aldyth resigns herself to marry another-only to find out the night before the marriage that her new betrothed is a abusive monster. Aldyth must run away for her life-then adopting a young boy's disguise. What follows is a pretty enjoyable romantic adventure, somewhat sensual, while relying heavily on the adventure and spy background more than the love story. While not the best book I've read, Lord Liar should please those medieval romance fans looking for something a little bit different. 3.5 stars.
