Deep in the Wilderness the King family, and friends, have set up their new homes. But this valley is shared by one of the greatest predators of all: the giant grizzly. Disregarding the protests of his family, Nate King wants to try to teach the grizzly to go against its murderous nature, to train it to leave them be, to share the valley with them in peace. But is this dream possible or will the grizzly teach him and his family a fatal lesson of their own? David Thompson has again come up with an excellent entry into the Wilderness series. A book not only filled with a terrific storyline but one that presents the reader with a number of thought provoking elements; such as can a grizzly be trained, what is love, and Indian tales of creatures of legend. As the book moves rapidly to its savage conclusion Thompson manages to slip in hints of stories that may appear in later books in the series, thus making this reader eager for more. If you haven't bought this yet then what are you waiting for? Highly recommended!

Lord Grizzly Review

The King families thrilling saga continues along with Shakespeare McNair and Blue Water Women as they arrive in the location they have decided to start their new lives. The story evolves around Nates decision to train the king of the valley, `Lord Grizzly` to accept a peaceful relationship with him and his family. His quandary was in developing a plan to convince a massive unpredictable monstrosity to not eat potential prey. Unfortunately Zach encounters `Lord Grizzly` before Nate can figure out a plan and finds himself in a ride for his life as he is overtaken and barely manages to avoid being slashed or mauled by the timely arrival of Nate, who then decides to take the initiative and drive the bear to an isolated valley. Content he has succeeded he returns home only to find that the bear had followed him and what ensues is a fast paced battle between man and one of the most primal monstrosities still in existence until all Nate has left to defend himself with is a knife and tomahawk which he utilizes to do the unpredictable, with firm resolution he attacks the bear. As usual a very thrilling story in the continual adventures of the King family and highly recommended not only for fans but would be fans as well. David always endeavors to fill his books with facts that leave me surfing the net to learn more and, as usual, I find myself enlightened after finishing one of his books. In this one in particular I learned interesting facts about animals, several old Indian legends about mysterious people, customs, animals and even their belief in Creation and how closely it ties with the basic Christian views. Also, as always when Shakespeare is involved in the story, there is an abundance of quotes from the `Bard', most of which are so ingeniously incorporated into the storyline one must surmise that the author is an expert on the subject of `Shakespeare` and has the ability to quote him from memory and apply it to any situation. Overall, this is a superb addition to the Wilderness series, and having read them all to date, would consider this one of the author's best.
