Loose Change

By Ela Bambust

It's 2020. Six people meet at a wedding It's 2015. Six desperate idiots rob a bank. It's 2010. Six fraudulent college grads swindle a gated community. It's 2005. Six kids escape their home. In the town of Marston, Virginia, six protagonists find a coin that, when flipped, can let them take anyone's appearance. Over a series of robberies and heists, they grow up together, find themselves and each other, all from the perspective of their future selves, looking back to how they got to where they are now, and why they haven't spoken in half a decade. Flipping Out is a magical action story disguised as a coming of age gender and sexuality play. It's a romantic dramedy disguised as a crime thriller. It's four increasingly elaborate heists in a trench coat.
