Looking Over The Edge: (Poetry of an Overworked Mind)

Hello dear reader, my name is Billy Sprous, (rhymes with silly house). Ever sense I was a very young child, I had a very visual and highly active imagination. Which lead to daydreaming a lot and low grades in school. Whenever I would stay the night at my four younger cousin's house, they would ask me to tell them a story before they went to sleep. Lacking in the ability to read very well, at the time, instead of opening up a book, I would make up stories as I told them. Before starting, I would ask, "what kind of story would you like to hear?"The answer was always the same, "SPOOKY!"I made up literally hundreds of stories.Then one day, when I was about 14, I had discovered something else that I could do almost instantaneously, rhyme sentences. I found this out by starting off trying to write a certain girl a "love" letter. (My reading and writing skills were starting to develop, thanks to comics and children's books.)Before I knew it, I was writing a poem to this girl, in which I titled, A Broken Heart Prayer, which I included in chapter 4. After that, I started writing poems, one right after another. Unfortunately, I lost nearly all of them over the years. Then I discovered social media. A place where you can write and say almost anything. So, a little over a year ago, I decided to write a poem online. My family and friends seem to like it very much, so I wrote another one and another one, and even started taking request and turning these request into dedications to the ones who requested them. Then, a couple of months ago I was asked if I thought about putting a book together of my poems. SO, This is where I'm at now.
