Look at the Birds and Consider the Flowers

By Dan Venberg

The natural world and its beautiful inhabitants are eager to point us to a God who is sovereign over his creation. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus exhorts us to look and the birds of the air and consider the flowers of the field to draw us into increased faith in the God who cares for them and for us: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in bards, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?...See how the flowers of the field grow? They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you¿" - Matthew 6: 26 - 30 In the pages of this devotional are 31 stories of different birds, insects, and plants, all eager to point you to the one who created them unique and special. Be prepared to learn amazing details about each one. You will laugh. You will wonder. You will be amazed. And you will glean valuable lessons from their stories and from God's word.
