Longman dictionaries rock!

Though not easy to find at bookstores (maybe it's a distribution issue), this is by far the best bilingual dictionary Spanish/English in the pocket class. It does give useful examples for word usage, so you won't be lost. Please don't be confused by the target group (Latin American students) as the Spanish used is standard for the most part. So it's a great pocket bilingual dictionary for English and Spanish speakers alike, the type you can carry in your backpack or suitcase. I also highly recommend Longman learner's dictionaries, that is monolingual English dictionaries designed to meet the needs of non-native English speakers. The American or the American Advanced are awesome. For a large, desk bilingual English-Spannish dictionary, Oxford continues to be the best
