An exciting adventure and horror book

"Loch" is a great horror book. But it's not completely a horror book like you might expect it to be. Several plesiosaurs are living in a Vermont lake. Many people have told stories of seeing them, and that leads to a group of scientists wanting to capture one alive or kill it and take its remains to prove the existence of these prehistoric aquatic beasts. The man who is over the operation to find the plesiosaurs is Cavenger, and he won't let anything get in his way of finding and catching or killing one of the dinosaurs. However, after making friends with a young plesiosaur up close, the kids of some of the scientists, Loch, Zaidee, and Sarah want to help save the dinosaurs."Loch" does have many horror elements to it such as the plesiosaurs killing some people and some chilling descriptions of people's remains being found after one of the dinosaurs were done killing them, but it's more of an adventure to save the prehistoric creatures with the main characters, Loch and Zaidee. I used to be real interested in the Lochness Monster headlines a few years ago before some people admitted it was a hoax, and that was the main reason I wanted to read this book. You can tell "Loch" is sort of taken from the real life Lochness Monster news of a few years back even though it doesn't say it in this book. The Lochness Monster hoax was supposed to be a plesiosaur, and the plesiosaurs in this book are right next to Lake Champlain, where a lot of people used to think a real Lochness Monster lived in real life. If you like dinosaurs and especially if you like sea-related adventures, I recommend reading "Loch." It's a well written book and it's exciting.

An excellant horror story.

Fifteen year old Loch (nicknamed that because he claimed to see the Loch Ness monster during a family trip in Scotland when he was a toddler), his little sister, Zaidee, and his girlfriend, Sarah, join their dads on an expedition to search for a monster in a Vermont lake. While exploring, the three discover a baby monster that appears to be a creature left from prehistoric times. Now they must convince Sarah's father and his crew that the creatures will be harmless if left alone. But the stubborn adults won't listen, and the kids have to save the creatures - and the humans. A suspenseful horror story that I highly reccomend.

The Mystery

This book begins with a boy named Loch who for the first time encounters the Lochness Monster when two of the sheep from his herd fall into the lake and get devoured. Then Loch spends the rest of his life looking for the answer to this question. Does the Lochness monster really exsist? You will have to find out for yourselve. It is a really good book and I would recommend this book only to the people who like horror books. Otherwise you would not like this book.

A great, flip-till-you-rip book!

This book was too cool! We were getting ready to pick our books at the school library, when I came across a cool dinosaur head! I picked it up, checked it out, and that night, didn't stop reading untill I finshed the book 2 hours later!! Yea, sure, it's not for the weak at heart (ie, Running over and half-eaten Jesse Sanderson's head on a Jet Ski,or having someones blood splatter all over the boss' daughter who's just trying to steer the boat, or getting hit in the head with the same person's disembodied arm!), but hey, come on.I think this book is real cool, and now I HAVE to read The Reef of Death, which is the sequel.

Loch is an awesome book!

Loch is a story about a sixteen year old boy who goes on an expedition with his dad and sister. While they are out on the lake, a lochness monster devours a cameraman. A day later, Loch finds a baby lochness monster when he is scuba diving. Loch tries to save the baby and the other monsters from the inhumane Anthony Cavenger. The end is fantastic. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes dinosaurs and underwater creatures.
