Just in time for the holidays
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Living with negative people is hard in the best of times, but at holidays? When you are an optimist or love to celebrate and are truly thankful? It can be painful. This book is filled with humor, but also practical help. Elizabeth Baker is a licensed counselor and her advice, wisdom, and insight can be a tool in the hands of those who are trying to positively love the negative people in their life. She explains the problems and the "why" behind them, as well as the strengths of someone who lives in a world where there is no silver lining. It helps you to appreciate the person more, know when and what to do, and how to connect and appreciate with those who see life in a different shade than you.
Living with - and LOVING - our Eeyores.

I just finished this book, and I really appreciated it! It was full of advice and humour. Even though I think I know my own Eeyores fairly well, this book gave me additional tools for not just living with, but LOVING, my Eeyores. It hit the nail on the head, and really points out the fact that there is a PLAN in the grand scheme of life. There is a reason for Eeyores. I will definitely be recommending this book to others.
Living With Eeyore
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
When my publisher asked what "inspired" me to write this book, I answered that inspiration had very little to do with the process; neither did my study at Oxford Graduate School nor my training as a Licensed Professional Counselor. This book came from the hands-on, day-by-day challenge of living with my own personal Eeyore! Mom and I are both widows and have formed a household together for the past fifteen years. She is very beneficial to my life, but without a doubt she is a dyed-in-the-wool, one-hundred-percent Eeyore who has yet to admit a glass is on occasion half full. Like all Eeyores, Mom believes that all glasses are not only half empty, they have holes in the bottom as well. If there is an Eeyore in your life--and there probably is--you will quickly identify with the many illustrations I write about. Hopefully, you will also find practical help and encouragement that will help you not only endure the negative flood you face each day, but actually change your perspective until the flood feels more like a small wave! Practical help and realistic illustrations were a primary goal as I wrote the book. I also hope you will enjoy the brief Bible studies and discussion questions that close out each chapter. These would be great for small groups or neighborhood Bible studies. Even those who are not of the Christian faith are likely to enjoy this practical, light-hearted book. If your group does such a study, or if you would just like to get in touch with me, you can contact me through my website www.elizabethbakerbooks.com
