The current state of Constantine's historic center-a testament to the region's deep-rooted local culture-is in a state of constant deterioration; meanwhile, the residential character of the protected area is gradually disappearing, giving way to "retail establishments," This transformation is giving way to dominant economic functions, and the massive changes to the built environment are contributing to the destruction of the architectural and urban heritage of the old city. Our primary objective remains focused on the preservation and protection of Constantine's urban heritage; it is necessary to identify the methods and actions required to achieve this.Based on an analysis of the historic center and international examples of heritage preservation strategies, we present our proposal, which is grounded in the principle of occupying the heritage sites and giving them a role in society to ensure their preservation. The proposed solution for the preservation of Constantine's protected area lies in the active use of this heritage and its integration into social life as an essential lever. Residential spaces must be equipped with "comfort" and accessibility to essential services.
