Customer Reviews

They sent an abridged version and wouldn’t correct their error. Again.

I’ve had this happen twice with trying to buy a copy of Far From the Madding Crowd. They sent a children’s abridged version of this and said I ordered the wrong book but they’d give me a refund.

There is writing in the book. One page is a message to their daughter mom and dad wrote, and the nex

There was a lot of writing on three pages that was not disclosed in the description. I ordered this book and touched on the books to open Pages and it never showed any writing. Very disappointing. I paid almost $20 for this book. They said it was a very good condition

Adapted version?

Nothing on the sellers page mentioned condensed or adapted for children, but that is what I received. It's a good thing I have a little girl to read it, I guess.

Received wrong item

Item pictured was an unabridged copy of Little Women. Received an adapted Great Illustrated Classics. I have emailed customer service, and they are usually pretty good. I will update my review once I receive the correct item.

Dirty book

The book was not in fat in “acceptable” condition. It was filthy, sticky and had a strong odor.

Not what was advertised + Overpriced

Only the first half of Little Women, which I didn't know was sometimes split in two. It also came with a massive sale sticker on the front, marking it as $2.97 when I bought it for nearly $10 after fees. The sticker is leaving residue as I try to remove it.

Great Book! Reader's Digest Edition

It was in good condition, my only complaint is about the book itself. I bought the book to read along with friends, assuming the wording would be the same regardless of the version, but this version cuts off many descriptive parts of sentences which was a bummer. Other than that, great condition and amazing book!

Sent me children's edition.

I ordered a hardback version with red cover. I was sent a child's version. No email or communication when switching it. Returning it for a refund isn't hard but I should have never needed to this it in the first place.

So dissapointed!

This is not the actual book little women. This is a weird retelling with modern language.

Wrong Book

Was sent the abridged version... very disappointing.

It was wholesome.

Heartfelt tale of actual family and found family.

Wrong version sent

I just got the book and unfortunately I got the children’s edition the same as another reviewer on here. It should be stated on here whether you are buying the full book or just the adapted version.

Sent the wrong book

I was sent a Junior's classic edition instead of the real book. Very disappointed.

I would expect it expected collector's not the baby back

I button paid for the collector's item for the little women for $28 it's only sending me the $6 version That's not right

Mandatory read for sisters.

Even if you are just one of two, all sisters can find themselves in one of the March sisters. They are archetypes that most women can and will relate to. And if Laurie is not the "boy next door" we all fantasized about growing up, I don't know who is.

Only volume 1

The book was in excellent condition, but it did not specify that it is only the first half/volume of the novel rather than the book in it’s entirety.

wrong edition

The description said nothing about this being the junior edition. This is not the edition I needed.

Not happy

Book says like new. Has a 1 inch tear down the front of the spine. Was not listed that way.

Jr edition unfortunately

I've read this book before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I received the children's compressed edition

Beautiful!

Beautiful copy in great condition!!

Enjoyed it as an adult

This is a good read for adults to read along with their children (upper elementary or middle school). I think parents should read it with their children as it deals with the topic of death.

One of my Favorite Books of All-time!

The beginning journey of the March Sisters is such an endearing tale, as are the books that follow this one. A perfect read for Christmas, that I have re-read every year since I was a child! (I did mistakenly order the illustrated classic designed for children instead of the normal one - which made me sad, though it is a pretty edition of the book. Just be cautious of this when ordering.)

A classic!

Everyone should read (at least once that is).

A great classic

A great classic read. The quality is better than I was expecting it to be.

This is a MUST read!!!!

This is such an amazing book about values and life lessons. The characters are so loveable and it’s the type of story I could re read over and over again. Give it a chance. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely edition of the classic

I love the novel and have been given several copies over the years, but I actually bought this edition. I love the Barnes and Noble classics series! The text is highly readable and easy on the eyes (while maintaining elegance), and the covers are well bound and lovely for a paperback. Highly recommended!

Little Women~

In Little Women, you will meet the March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth & Amy who live with their mother, Marmee, and their maid Hannah, during the Civil War. The first half of the novel takes place while their father is away, serving in the war. Each sister has a distinct personality, a reader, an artist, a musician, the quiet one. You will get to know this family in touching little stories of their daily life. Each chapter seems to set up a moral lesson for the reader to learn. We also meet a wonderful set of neighbors, Mr. Laurence and his nephew "Laurie" who quickly find a place as part of the March family. The second half of the novel, focuses on the girls as they leave their childhood and begin their journey into adult life. Lessons of friendship, family, and love are covered as we join the characters through the ups and downs of life, good times and bad. It seems that Louisa May Alcott used her own family as the basis for the stories in Little Women, basing the character Jo on herself. It is amazing how though the book was written in the late 1800's, so many things about humans remain the same. The foundations of life that are important in friendships, family & love don't change through time, as Alcott has shared with us. This is a book that young and old can read and appreciate.

A heartwarming story!

Little Women is one of my favorite books of all time! In this heartwarming story about four sisters growing up during the Civil War, I have learned so much about the world around me, and ironically, myself. It tells of how people can choose to live their lives and how happiness can be found even through hardships. The Marches are a picture of a happy home - with brave and moral Father, who has gone into the army to do what he can for the North's cause, and kind, caring Marmee, who watches over her girls with gentleness and love. Then, there's the little women: sixteen-year-old Meg, who's pretty and mature; rough-and-tumble Jo, determined to become a famous writer; timid Beth, always putting others before herself; and spoiled Amy with her artistic talents. There's also their amiable neighbor, Theodre Laurence (Laurie). Join in on the fun and read all about Amy's trouble at school, Jo's precious book being burned, Meg going to "Vanity Fair," Beth's tragedy, and so much more! I highly recommend this book for guys and girls of all ages! No one can resist this incredible story!

Mujercitas is a good book for family and friends to enjoy!

Mujercitas really made me wonder about the opportunity we all have to live a life full of joy. Made me also wonder how come most of us do not apprecite and value this opportunity given. With this book I have decided that I will, even if others don't, that's up to them. In addition, made me think about the family I once had and with a little more forgiveness, It could return to me. Read the book, if you are into the sentimental type, but if you are Stone-Cold don't waste your time!!!.
