Based on Hubert Michel's poem about a lone starfish that dreams of becoming a celestial star, this imaginative and wordless picture book allows readers to create their own story about the starfish's grand adventure. Full color."
This little picture book without words is absolutely magical. The paintings are of that kind of simplicity that makes it look easy but is so hard to achieve. Both colors and execution of the illustrations are strong, emotional, and just superb. The story is fabulous: a little star is swept up from the bottom of the ocean onto shore and is picked up by a little girl. She puts the star in her hair where it is picked up by a seagull and thrown into the sky. There the star becomes a shooting star and ends up back on the ocean floor. The book contains all the images that a beginning talker already knows, and the story really fires up their imagination. My baby was thrilled to talk about all these things he already had words for and put them together in a new and exciting story. Too sad this little gem is out of print.
