Most of the women in my family love to cook, but that gene skipped me. Thankfully, I had a mom who cooked from scratch my entire childhood, was an excellent teacher and taught my sisters and me the basics in the kitchen. She instilled in me the love of home-cooked food and the skills to do it, even if it wasn't my passion, and I am deeply grateful for that.

I may not love to cook, but I do love to grow food My family and I live on a small ranch in British Columbia, Canada, producing meat, eggs, dairy and vegetables. Outside of my family, there isn't anything I love more than growing food. I adore wandering around the garden during the golden hour and harvesting some beautiful vegetables; carrots, kale, broccoli, onions, and whatever is ripe and ready to be picked. I am always grateful to be able to turn all that bounty into meals for my family.
