Dudley Westover is a diffident and modest civil servant looking forward to an early retirement. His days are brightened when he is given an important assignment on a major new weapon development. Suddenly, Dudley finds himself pursued by the beautiful courier, Inse. He learns as he goes, seemingly only a step ahead of his Soviet handlers who would terminate him if his game were discovered, and navigating through shark-infested waters of the various intelligence agencies. Roe sets his novel in the most fascinating cities of Europe and peoples it with memorable characters. It is a gripping story set in a time of great change and great hope for the democracies. You will find yourself drawn in and involved right up to the unexpected and dramatic conclusion.
