Little Feather - The Boy Carried by the Wind is a fantasy-based story centering on the courage and determination of a physically-challenged Native American boy. His story is universal, to be read and enjoyed by children primarily ages 5-10. However, it is appropriate for older children and even adults who will be able to relate to the plight of people with a disability (or something different) that sets them apart. Displaying a maturity beyond his years, Little Feather looks inside himself and also beyond his immediate situation to build inner strength, learning from and forming a bond with his natural environment. He dreams of what "could be." Faced with taunts and the callous attitude of his peers, Little Feather is not defeated but literally "rises above" his situation. In the end, Little Feather's humility, dignity, and ability to forgive make him an example of what can be achieved.
