Little Eva at Moonlight Creek samples the literary traditions of four language groups, broadening our appreciation of the richness of Aboriginal poetry. A wide diversity of subjects is covered - from the Yanyuwa songs which trace the search for the crashed US bomber, "Little Eva", to the nurlu from Broome which delve into the supernatural. The interaction between the spiritual and the worldly comes out in the songs from southern Central Australia. Bird poems from the Yolngu people describe the birds as creatures from the Dreamtime and brilliantly observed features of the natural world. Each song is presented in its original language and in translation. Introductions place the songs within their cultural context with interpretations offered by the singers.
