(Pin Yin is a system of transcribing Chinese characters so that Mandarin learners can pronounce them: Pin Yin = "to spell sound"). The Mandarin is displayed with Simplified Chinese characters as opposed to complex Traditional characters and was not translated after the English but rather "written alongside" it by the author, who speaks both languages.
