While visiting Honduras, photographer David Mangurian met a shoeshine boy named Lito Chirinos. Mangurian follows Lito to see what his life is like, and uses Lito’s words to share his story. It’s an important story which shows the strength of human spirit. This was my mother and my favorite book growing up. We’d buy up copies sold by libraries and gift them to family and friends. It helps children to consider the lives of those around them, to have compassion and empathy- something this world needs more of today.
