4-Sided Love Triangle Michelle Hetzel, Keary Renner, and Devon Guzman were three high school girls who shared a secret: their lesbian desires. After high school, Michelle married Brandon Bloss, 25, while Keary and Devon lived together. Michelle used her husband's credit card to finance a trip for herself and Devon to the island of St. Croix, where they were secretly wed. Back home in Easton, Pennsylvania, on a night in June 2000, Devon broke up with Michelle, and a series of violent quarrels ensued among the foursome. The next day, Devon was found dead in her car. Geometry Of Murder Devon's death was murder made to look like suicide. Her throat had been cut clear through to the spine. Who was the killer? Keary Renner had been physically abusive to Devon in their relationship. Michelle was furious at being rejected by Devon. And Brandon Bloss wanted his wife to stay faithful to him. Forensic evidence indicated that Brandon and Michelle were the culprits. A jury agreed, sentencing them both to life prison terms. Here is a searing true account of secret lives, lethal passions--and savage murder. Includes 16 pages of shocking photos. John Kearney has been an award-winning newspaper and science writer for fifteen years and served for three years as a writer and editor for "Diagnostics Intelligence, " a scientific publication on blood and DNA testing. He lives in New Jersey.
My suggestion would be for all of you who are reviewing this book to keep in mind that this girl has a FAMILY. And before you start to put down the character of this person who was brutally MURDERED, you should consider the fact that she was someone's daughter, someone's sister, someone's friend. She was a person, not someone for you to speak of her in such a demeaning way that you'd think you knew her! It's not just some crime novel, it's a real story that affected real people in a terrible and saddening way, and still DOES affect this family. I'm sure they would be very disheartened to know that her story has attracted people of the likes of you.
LIPSTICK, BLOOD AND ONE CRAZY COUPLE

I really enjoyed this book, however I was shocked at the coldness of Bloss and his wife. It's really sad when kids get invovled in a serious relationship without the benefit of counseling. I think any couple who chooses to marry without the wisdom of age/experience really need to take classes on how to work a healthy relationship. So many people think that crime/violence is the only way out of a bad marriage/relationship. This book tells how three kids lost their lives one through murder the other two through life in prison. Three families have to endure that pain forever. I'm just thinking that eight weeks of marriage counseling could have made all the difference in their lives.

although the content was very sad and disturbing, I was unable to put this book down.. I remembered this story from an episode of Forensic Files, and was shocked and saddened by it then.. it was very interesting, though I'd have liked more background on the people involved.. it saddens me that we will never really know what happened that horrible night, but this book was well worth the time I took to read it..
a Real True Crime Find

This may be John Kearney's first true crime novel, but you would have to read his bio on the book jacket to know it. I had never heard about this case before, but the subject matter commanded my attention and interest from the first few pages. Kearney opens the novel with the night of the crime and keeps the action moving. Kearney's style contains an entertaining and complimentary mix of character development, investigative and forensic analysis, and intrigue. I found myself devouring pages quickly and eager for Kearney's next true crime offering. For those of you who enjoy true crime, I highly recommend putting Lipstick and Blood and John Kearney on your list.
A MUST read!!

I could NOT put the book down last night! I am ALMOST to the end already and I just started reading the book! I think John Kearny's descriptive account does what it is supposed to do - PUT YOU IN IT! I feel a part of the story with all it's twists and turns. He is an excellent writer who has kept me interested to read on! I did not know anything about this murder, perhaps the other reviewer followed it. I found his account to be compelling and kept the pages turning LATE last night into early this morning. "Caveat Emptor" from San Antonio, TX wrote, "These are high school dropouts with little else to occupy themselves by turning one party against another...and in the end one killing another. So what?" I would like to know if he/she would feel the same way if this was HIS/HER daughter? This was a horrible tragedy that ended Devon's short life here on Earth and this well written book honors it! A MUST read, for sure!
