I bought this book as a required textbook for my K-8 science class. I have to say that is it a fairly easy read and very informative. However, after the first couple of chapters it starts to feel repetitive. At this point I have had it drilled into my head that literacy is important and we can link it in science. Chapter 6 is the best chapter for how that breaks down and has some great information about literacy and science along with different modes (types) of writing. If you are looking for ways to improve literacy by linking it to other subjects this is a good book to have on hand as a resource!
