I loved it!

It was really good. It wasn't as overrated as some of the other stories and it was funny and good for my younger cousins to read. They enjoyed it very much!

18 years old, and I love it! =)

I have been very much "into" the American Girls Collection ever since I received my first doll (Samantha) at the age of 10. Now, at 18, I still love them and own 7 of the historical dolls and both of the contemporary "Girls of Today," Lindsey and Kailey.I wasn't sure what to expect with Lindsey, the first limited edition doll, but of course I had to have her...and I truly do love this book! To me, it is absolutely hilarious--one of those stories that really makes you laugh out loud at parts. Lindsey Bergman is a great character--funny, charming, and irresistable. Her heart's in the right place, even though nothing else around her really is! Chryssa Atkinson did a great job with this book and really helped kick off the ongoing "limited edition" set of dolls that is now being offered through the company. The people at American Girl have a pretty good thing going with this line of contemporary dolls. They started it up a few years ago with the assortment of dolls that you can choose everything for--the name, hair, eye and skin colors, and their story plots--but they took it up a notch when they introduced Lindsey. While it is wonderful that girls of all ages can be exposed to the historical aspects through the original dolls like Felicity and Samantha, it is also great to let today's girls know that they are important too. They will be an ultimate addition to history as well, and they have their own stories to share right now. The dolls Lindsey and Kailey have begun the collection, and I am sure that this new section of American Girl will be equally successful as everything before it. But the real thing I wrote this review for was the Lindsey book, and I'd say that for girls, it's a wonderfully entertaining story to read; and for parents, it's a terrific book for you and your daughter(s) to share together. If I ever have little girls of my own, my dream is to share these dolls and books with them--both those of the past and those of today.

My eleven-year-old daughter loves it!

This book is the first book about the American Girl Today, Lindsey Bergman. Lindsey is nine-years-old, and is constantly trying to better the world around her; whether it's protecting animals from mistreatment, or beautifying the garbage cans on her street. The other American Girls stories are written to present girls in other times throughout American history, in an interesting and realistic manner, and to teach lessons. Breaking that mould, this book presents a girl of today, a girl whose adventures are less than realistic, but quite humorous and entertaining. I must admit to being disappointed with this book, but my eleven-year-old daughter loves it! She liked the way that Lindsey bounced from adventure to adventure, and read the book through from cover to cover. So, while I'm not enthused about this book, I am glad for any book that grabs my daughter's interest, and makes her want to read. This is just such a book.

A short but good book

Lindsey was a really good book. It only took me 1 hour to finish it but it was still good. The end left you hanging because there was a couple of things unfinished....I hope they make a sequel. I think anyone under twelve would enjoy this book.It was slow in some parts but it got exciting after a little while. Lindsey is really funny, like how she stole a boy's (she didn't like him)iguana and ran up a tree with it! One of the funnier parts was when she got her uncle to ride her bike!!! (I won't tell you what happened!)This is a good book for girls my age.

Funny Lindsey

I think Lindsey is a great book. It has funny sayings like "I'll never be able to have friends over again! It'll be embarassing! Do you remember the time when we were on vacation and Uncle Bernie mowed the lawn in his Boxer shorts? Mrs. Schumacher actually called the police!!" or "Come over here Ethan. I want to show you some new bar mitzvah invatations. I found some really sweet ones." "Sweet? I'm becoming a man mom, not a Candy cane." There are also some funny parts of the story that I really like. Like: Ethan wanted to invite all the eighth grade girls (like they'd come) and Kids spend months getting ready for the pet parade every year. It's a huge deal. They make overalls for their dogs and ballerina outfits for their hamsters --- and that, my friend, is the problem. HAMSTERS SHOULD NOT WEAR BALLERINA OUTFITS!! On Parade day it was hot and sticky, and I knew that the animals must be very uncomfortable. Have you ever seen an Iguana in pants? It's just not right. So when I spotted Josh Thompson (total, TOTAL creep) dragging his Iguana around in a cowboy outfit, I had to do something. I had to save at least one pet from complete humiliation.andMiss Kiney was taking a long time finding that staple remover, so I went to work on the books and magazines , stacking them according to size. I was aranging the last pile when I found a gold mine- a magazine opened to a page with a quiz on it. The Quiz was called "What's Your Type? Pick the man for you" and Miss Kinney had filled it out. I read the Quiz and found out she had crossed off "sporty","good cook", "romantic" and "funny". This was great! It was better than great! The answer to helping Mr. Pingler with his Love life was right in front of me.Lindsey is funny and hilarios. Every kid will enjoy it.The fact that kids (and even grown ups) make mistakes and that you can solve your mistakes and mysterys is great in this book. It tells everybody that no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes."There's a fine line between helping and meddling, Lindsey, and today you were on the wrong side of that line."
