Lila and the Hidden Sprout: A Little Fox Learns That Growing Takes Time

By Mary Fry

Sometimes the hardest part of growing is waiting.

Lila is thrilled when she finds a tiny blue seed. She plants it carefully and waits for something wonderful to happen. But waiting is much harder than planting, and Lila cannot resist checking beneath the soil again and again.

When her impatience leaves her with an empty patch of earth, Lila gets an unexpected second chance. This time, with Bramble nearby, she tries something different: she keeps her paws still and lets nature take its time.

Soon a tiny green shoot appears and Lila discovers that some things cannot be hurried.

Lila and the Hidden Sprout is a gentle illustrated story about patience, self-control, disappointment, friendship, second chances, and the quiet wonder of watching something grow. With simple language and peaceful woodland scenes, it is especially suited to read-aloud time with preschool children and families.
