Jah-mazing!

I've never read a book quite so innovative in its approach. The way Mr. Metzger manages to weave such a compelling story around some of the most famous (and not-so-famous) quotes in history, is simply amazing. It's incredible the way the author has managed to take these quotes and piece them together to make it seem like great figures spanning history are actually having a conversation about spirituality and the true meaning of life. What's more incredible is the commonality of profound thoughts and ideas shared by these great minds, despite the fact they may have lived centuries apart. Who would have thought that Confucius, Ben Franklin and Boy George would share similar thoughts on enlightenment? A very entertaining and eye-opening piece, this book is definitely a must-read!

I joined the author in his extravaganza of fabulous quotes made to read much like conversations between so many of the world's greatest thinkers. The seemingly incredible task of selecting, categorizing, and creating a conversational salon effect amongst these great thinkers must have taken many years to perfect! When the author speaks his voice adds the special link that connects it all and makes it HIS book! I just keep reading it and re-reading it.... is is a truly remarkable book!!!

This book caped me up the entire night when I got it at first and then continued to do so for quite a few more. It is funny, entertaining, lively and with a twist, besides being an eye opener and a helpful guide in essay writting (for all you college buffs).Enjoy.

When I discovered "Lightning Fast Enlightenment" I went right home and spent the afternoon reading, smiling all the while. The same day I called and ordered an additional 28 copies to spread across the country to friends. And, I have learned that many of them have passed the book on to others. It's a delightful read. I highly recommend it!

Who are all THESE people?

I think it's just awesome how Metzger gathers up all these "participants" in his book, especially since the variety is so great. Who else do you know that has a cast of characters that range from the likes of Miss Piggy to the flippancy of Ellen DeGeneres, to the wisdom of Walt Whitman and everything in between? The fact that all his characters interact, as it were, to state their views on different subjects, is like a giant dialogue between some of the world's most fascinating people. So, since each of the nineteen chapters has a different theme, it is more than interesting so see how people of such different backgrounds and beliefs, can ultimately speak to the same message, or idea.The range of emotions that I went through reading this book are as varied as the speakers themselves. Some quotes are so delightfully funny, while some are so poignant, some so deep. I got the feeling that there would be a surprise in each answer, and I was constantly reacting with intrigue as to who the next speaker would be in response to the theme.As a teacher, I found myself thinking how much of what so-and-so said would be inspirational to my students, especially in the chapters that deal with "not quitting", or chapter 15, titled "A Single Step", about simply putting one foot ahead of the other and taking a single step to move forward towards something. As a matter of fact, I thought about all the subject teachers and how they could use this book not only to enlighten themselves but also to put some humor into the lives of their students along side the wisdom.As an example, I would read to them a few excerpts from the "Single Step" chapter:Lao-tzu: The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.Neil A. Armstrong: That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.Ellen DeGeneres: My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's nine- ty - seven today - and we don't know where the hell she is.I do believe that is all I would have to do to whet their interest and desire to read this delightful book. It is so refreshing, and so different, with so much to reflect upon. I loved it, and hope that all of you who read this are curious enough to read the book also.
