Dr. In Sung Myung, who was born in Pyongyang in 1932, escaped from North Korea with his family in 1948, admitted to Yong San High school in the 11th grade after passing the entrance examination and enrolled in Seoul National University in South Korea. He left for the U.S. in 1953 and graduated from Colorado School of Mines. While working at Raytheon Corporation's Seismograph Service Corporation, he earned his Masters and PhD in petroleum engineering at University of Tulsa. Thereafter, he participated in oilfield development projects in the U.S., South Korea, North Korea, China and South America, and was also involved in civil diplomacy and social work. Currently, he lives in Houston, Texas with his wife Okjoo Pai.
