Rare comedy

This book is simply hilarious. I read this book fifteen years ago in tropical Africa and I am yet to get over it. Clarence Day Jr. tells the story of his father in a very imaginative and hilarious manner. The peculiar genius of this book is how the author managed to present the character of his extraordinary subject in such an ordinary manner. After reading this book one has the sense of haven paid a visit to the Day family, rather than haven read a well written book about them. It is this rare quality of reality about the book that makes it my best comedy of all times.
