Early morning, July 4th, 1972, during her Centennial celebration, the lifeless body of 13-year-old Lora Anne Duch was found by her father. The city became abuzz with talk and fear. There had never been a murder in the small town before, and few had any idea of who could have done such a thing.
The Chief of Police, Curtis Oswald, after a short investigation, arrested the 16-year-old boyfriend, Sean Calderon, of Lora, for her rape and murder.
Sean was arrested, indicted, tried, and convicted for aggravated assault, rape, and murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On the 25th anniversary of the death of Lora, America Affairs News Magazine ran a special about the murder in the small Iowan town, and interviewed Sean, now in his 40s, attempting to retrieve his side of the story.
Sean's love for Lora continued to grow over the past 25 years, as he proclaimed his innocence every step of the way.
Marsha Brott, a VP at the bank in McDonald, IA, became interested in Sean and his case.
What did she find out?
