Life Is Like Fruit Salad

By Collins

Sammy doesn't understand why the whole family is obsessed with fruit salad. No matter what happens-winning or losing a soccer game, getting the lead role in a school play, or even wearing a unique ballet outfit-someone always says, "Sammy, life is like fruit salad."

At first, it feels like nothing but silly talk. Apples, lemons, bananas, pineapples, grapes-what could they possibly have to do with real life? But as Sammy listens to each family member, little by little the fruit salad wisdom begins to make sense. Sweet victories, sour disappointments, standing out, fitting in, and even embarrassing mistakes, all have a place in life's mix.

When the family gathers for a big barbecue, Sammy finally discovers what makes life truly special: it isn't just the fruit-it's the marshmallows. Family is the sweetness that holds everything together.

Filled with humour, warmth, and colourful imagery, Life Is Like Fruit Salad is a heartwarming picture book that explores resilience, self-expression, and the love of family. With lively illustrations by Olena Stasiuk, this story reminds children that every experience-good or bad-adds flavour to life, and that the people we love make it all the sweeter.
