Michael Wellington Pinder always had a penchant for writing and is an avid reader of poems, poetry and quotes from "Leaves of Gold" and the "Royal Reader's Series". With his keen interest in English Literature he has read the complete writings of William Shakespeare as well as a collection of poems from the book of Shorter Narrative Poems. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College and Bachelor's degree from Florida International University in the field of Tourism Management. He was a contributing writer for the local newspaper giving motivational, inspirational, and sometimes controversial views through his column "The Link". For twenty-two years he has served the congregation of Upper Zion Baptist Church in the community of Pinder's Point, Grand Bahama. He is a third-generation pastor in the Zion Baptist family on the island, succeeding his father and grandfather. During his season of ministry, Pastor Michael has served both publicly and privately, specifically the Zion community as District Superintendent and Coordinator of the Southern District Pastoral Alliance (comprising 20 interdenominational churches in the area). He recently published his first book, "A Desire to Hear From God" through daily reading of the Bible, Volumes I and II and is about to chronicle the many sermons he has preached over the years.
