Life and Muskateers

Sometimes we are the star in stories, more often than not, we are just happy bystanders, enjoying the show. I once heard that whoever has the most stories at the end of life "wins". I picture the soul in front of the Gates of Heaven, relaying our lives to Saint Peter:
Is it a happy affair? Recalling all the good and bad and silly and fun things one's life is composed of?
Is it a somber affair, a hermit's reflection on life, an ascetic's contemplations on the universe ?
Both strike me as necessary, if somewhat oppositional, for a fulfilled life.
We are all, of course, heroes in our own stories. Sometimes on a muskateer adventure, sometimes on a hermit's quest. The writer humbly offers a touch of both in these pages.
The funny stories are not that funny.
The reflections are not that profound.
Yet-
A good laugh with a good friend.
A moment alone, considering the world.
May we all be blessed with these.
