Read It And Be Prepared!

For those unfamiliar with Dr Clayton's research, this book is a companion to his previous work, Life After Doomsday. Both volumes are essential reference for anyone seeking the myriad and potentially catastrophic scenarios, both manmade and natural, facing modern civilization. In Life After Terrorism, Clayton presents a realistic if frightening view of the global threat posed by a multitude of terrorist acts. His in-depth discussion of exposure to various biowarfare agents is especially chilling. Following the common-sense suggestions in this book can increase your chances of survival in the event of a terrorist attack. Read it and be prepared!

His Pen is Mightier Than Their Sword

If you are looking for the answers to some of today's big questions, you will find them in Life After Terrorism. You will also find the details of how to enjoy a safer and less-worried life in post-9/11 America. For example, do you have a boogie bag ready to go? If not, Bruce Clayton will persuade you why you need one and what to put in it.As an author and an editor I found this book to be an absolute joy to read. Several possible scenarios, the problems they present, and their solutions are laid out logically and clearly. I found myself checking my lifestyle to see how it compares with Dr. Clayton's suggestions for having a safer life after terrorism. His humor keeps the pages turning without letting you lose sight of the fact that the book is to be used as a tool to ensure your survival-in as much as anything can. After reading the book, my only question was: Why can't we have someone like Bruce Clayton running our country?

Short on hype, long on practical advice

Dr. Bruce Clayton manages to shove aside hysteria, hype, and inflammatory rhetoric, and instead shares well-researched, thoughtful advice about what YOU should be doing to protect yourself and your family in the ongoing war of terrorism being waged against America. (If you thought the attacks of 9/11 were the first shot in this war, you haven't been paying attention.) Clayton analyzes the terrorist's mindset and agenda - his aims, his resources, his tools, and his targets. Then, he looks at strategies for managing risk in an increasingly dangerous world, where a lack of imagination just may get you killed. Before 9/11, who would have imagined that two skyscrapers could be brought down by a handful of loonies armed with box cutters? There is some scary stuff in here that even Tom Clancy hasn't thought about. But it's presented with calm rationality and a dose of humor. You may devour this book in one or two sittings, but you'll be thinking about it (and hopefully doing something to protect yourself) for some time. This isn't your stereotypical "survivalist" lunatic fringe stuff. The author is a noted survival authority, and he'll share with you what works, and what doesn't. If you're looking for what type of gas mask to buy, you've come to the wrong place. Instead, you'll find out how to assess your risk of being impacted by various threat scenarios, what preparations make sense against what types of attacks, and the limitations of each form of "protection". (Hint: A gas mask isn't much good unless the bad guys announce their intentions in advance, and maybe not even then.) This is a sobering read, one that will awaken you to the realities of 21st century ideological warfare - but also a comforting one in many ways. First, you may find that you have far less to fear from terrorism than you think. We don't all live or work at a potential Ground Zero. Most importantly, though, you'll be armed with expert, well-reasoned advice for assessing, avoiding, and responding to a plethora of increasingly likely threats. Even if you are never a target of a terrorist attack, the strategies in this book will serve you well in the event of a natural disaster or outbreak. It's an instruction manual for taking charge of your family's security.

Everything about terrorism you were afraid to ask

An informative book on a subject suddenly close to all of our hearts. The first section and several others scattered throughout the book provide a remarkably insightful analysis of who engages in terrorism and why. Who terrorists target is discussed along with the future of terrorism. These sections contain a perspective you will not get from the news media, but which is not slanted toward a specific political ideology. The book also goes through the various possible terrorist techniques (anthrax, sarin gas, suitcase nukes, etc.) that most us have heard mentioned and explains them fully. Lots of B & W photos are included. This section contains detailed information about how likely it is the technique will actually be used, how damaging it will be and what will it do to the victims. Dr. Clayton does not sugarcoat, so some of the information is disturbing and at times gruesome, but it is very detailed and complete.Drawing on his experience writing books embraced by survivalists during the 1980s, Dr. Clayton next includes information about how you can reduce your risk of being a victim of terrorism and how you can maximize your family's chances of surviving an attack. Lots of specific preparations that most of us can do are described. If there are some things you would rather not know, or you are squeamish about details, this is probably not the book for you. But if you want to know detailed practical information about terrorists, their tools and what you can do to protect yourself and your family, this is the best book I know of to get that information.
