This hunt would be different from the last time when the hunters had worked together to herd the wooly mammoths over a cliff to their demise. This morning, Crik would hunt alone, an atlatl (spear thrower), a stone spear, and a stone knife. He wore a bison hide attached to a hollowed-out bison head. The hide would conceal Crik from the bison and cover his human smell. This ploy would fool the bison into thinking he was one of them, thus allowing him to get close enough to take down one of the massive beasts.
