Growing up within the Christian Church I learned about God's order for marriage. Then when I grew up I met a Christian man who was taught the same standards of marriage as I was and we quickly began our new life together. However, when my husband started using the Bible to abuse me, my dream of marital bliss quickly turned into a nightmare. After experiencing verbal and emotional domestic abuse from someone who held the same Biblical standards for marriage as I did, that sent me on a mission to find out what went wrong. How can a man use the Bible to justify abusive behaviors? Surprisingly, my journey led me back to investigating the Biblical doctrines I was taught about marriage all of my life and let's just say my findings will shake the very foundation of the Christian Church.
