Your Life For All To See

I disagree with the person who gives the book a 1. Why did I read this book? I saw 'Michael Collins' recently and was not familiar with Mr. Neeson's work. Stephen Rea, in my opinion, is Ireland's greatest living actor. He was also in the film. (Ned Broy) I had seen Mr. Neeson in the Woody Allen film, 'Husbands & Wives' but he was little more than window dressing. The book completely changed my view of the actor. For the better. The photos in the book show a young, solitary, brooding man. The author does an excellent job cutting & pasting his real and reel life together into a patchwork quilt. His relationships with actresses is tastefully done. His marriage to his late wife, Natasha Richardson, leaves one in tears when you realize this book does not have a happy ending. after all. His life, strangely, mirrors my own. Anglo-Irish-American. Catholic upbringing. Private. Discreet. Loyal. Great believer in private/quiet time alone. Finding spirituality in things people take for granted. Very particular about who we give our hearts to. His wife's sudden death will cause one of two things to happen to his career: He will withdraw and seldom work or he will grieve and show us his real steel. I believe his greatest work is ahead of him. I would love to see him on Broadway with Judy Davis in 'Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf.' What a powerful evening that would be! This book covers his childhood, early life in the arts, going Hollywood, making his mark, his girlfriends, his marriage. What more can she cover? I, too, lost my spouse in a sudden accident. I know how Mr. Neeson felt when the word came that his life would never, ever be the same. I am hoping Mr. Neeson will do what I did and go full-speed ahead with his dreams. I achieved all of mine. Had I not become a widow at a young age, I never would have accomplished any of the things I did later on. I sincerely hope Mr. Neeson heals and, like the Phoenix, rises from the ashes of his grief. He has a lot to give the world. I want him to do great things in the future. He is certainly capable of it.
